Brother Lawrence of the Resurrection (1614-1691) – monk-worker from the Order of Discalced Carmelites. The lot of labor monks is physical labor and prayer. They were the “service staff” for all the inhabitants of the monastery and pilgrims. But it was Brother Lavrenty, a former soldier who worked as a cook and shoemaker in the monastery, who was able to talk in the simplest and most accessible language about the most difficult path of spiritual work – unceasing prayer and constant walking before God.
