“The first path is the path of the fakir. This is a long, difficult and uncertain path. The fakir works on the physical body, on overcoming physical suffering.

.The second path is the path of the monk. This path is shorter, more reliable and more clearly defined. It requires certain conditions, but most of all it requires faith, for if there is no faith, then a person cannot be a true monk.

The third path is the path of the yogi, the path of knowledge and consciousness.

But there is also a Fourth Path – a completely special path that is not a combination of the other three. It differs from them primarily in that there is no external renunciation of things in it, since all the work is internal. A person must begin work in the conditions in which he finds himself, because these conditions are the best for him. That is, at first a person continues to live the same life as before, in the same conditions as before. In many ways, this path turns out to be more difficult than others, because there is nothing harder than changing yourself inside without changing the outside.”
