The novel “Let Your Tears Flow…” is filled with many of the themes for which Philip Kindred Dick is famous. These are issues of self-identity, distortion of reality, substance abuse and the theme of dystopia – a society under the control of a police dictatorship during the Second Civil War.

The novel was awarded the John Campbell Memorial Award and the SFinks Award. The novel was shortlisted for the Hugo and Nebula awards. The book influenced a number of science fiction films, such as Richard Kelly’s Southern Tales and Nicolaides’ Morning Patrol.
