The Last of the Mohicans is a historical novel by American writer James Fenimore Cooper, first published in 1826. It is the second book in the Leatherstocking pentalogy, in which Cooper talks about life on the American frontier and is one of the first to depict the originality of the spiritual world and customs of the American Indians. The novel was translated into Russian in 1833.
