The feat of the Podolsk cadets is one of the symbols of the battle for Moscow. In the fall of 1941, they – still just boys – stopped the enemy on the Moscow borders in bloody battles.

German plans for a lightning war against the USSR were thwarted by the Battle of Moscow. For the first time, the German military machine stalled on the Eastern Front in the fall of 1941.

In October 1941, the Germans broke through the front line and rushed to Moscow. There were only a few kilometers left to the capital’s outskirts when the command decided to send into battle detachments formed from cadets of the Podolsk infantry and artillery schools. For ten autumn days, Podolsk cadets held the line, waiting for reinforcements to arrive, gaining time at the cost of their own lives, saving Moscow…

Lieutenant Bratov and the cadets are fiercely defending themselves, Sergeant Vorontsov, soldiers Alekhine and Smirnov are catching the German saboteurs, but the cadets are running out of ammunition. There were ten soldiers left in the companies. German chains are selected to throw a grenade. And then the commanders give the last order: “Fix bayonets!”…

There is no fiction in this book, many of the heroes are real people, their exploits in late leaf fall are the history of the Great Patriotic War.

Немецкие планы молниеносной войны против СССР были сорваны Московской битвой. Впервые немецкая военная машина забуксовала на Восточном фронте осенью 1941 г.

В октябре 1941 г. немцы прорвали линию фронта и рвались к Москве. До столичных окраин остаются считанные километры, когда командование решило ввести в бой отряды, сформированные из курсантов Подольских пехотного и артиллерийского училищ. Десять осенних дней подольские курсанты держали оборону, ожидая подхода подкреплений, выигрывая время ценой собственных жизней, спасая Москву…

Лейтенант Братов и курсанты ожесточенно обороняются, сержант Воронцов, бойцы Алехин и Смирнов ловят немецких диверсантов, но у курсантов заканчиваются патроны. В ротах осталось по десятку бойцов. Немецкие цепи подбираются на бросок гранаты. И тогда командиры дают последний приказ: «Примкнуть штыки!»…

В этой книге нет вымысла, многие герои — реально существовавшие люди, их подвиги в поздний листопад — история Великой Отечественной войны.
