Nikolai Konyaev’s book “Domes over the Drut” fascinatingly tells about the history of the Holy Intercession Tolochin Monastery. Events took place here that, although they did not go beyond the borders of Tolochin, acquired national and even European significance. The book also tells about events that took place far from Tolochin, but seemed to flow onto the monastery, dragging it into the movement of world history. Much space in the book is devoted to the history of the relationship between Orthodoxy and Catholicism, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and Russia, without knowledge of which it is difficult to understand some aspects of modern relations between Russia, Belarus and Poland. In the previous part of the book “Domes over the Drut” the story was about the events of history from the time of the Varangians to the invasion of Napoleon. In this part, the author unfolds the narrative from the era of Alexander I to the present day. The book is intended for a wide range of readers.
