The story of the creation of the novel is also noteworthy: having lost to the last penny in Wiesbaden, desperately in need of money, Dostoevsky signed a contract with the publishing house, according to which he had to write the novel… in 26 days. These completely implausible deadlines forced Dostoevsky, for the first time in his life, to use the services of a stenographer secretary to whom he dictated the text. This is how young Anna Snitkina entered the life of the genius – the woman who was destined to become his wife and muse…

The collection also included the tragic and mocking “Bad Anecdote.”

Так в жизнь гения вошла молодая Анна Сниткина — женщина, которой суждено было стать его женой и музой…

В сборник также вошел трагический и насмешливый «Скверный анекдот».
