The author of the published “Diary” is Nikolai Aleksandrovich Lyubimov, protopresbyter of the Assumption Cathedral of the Moscow Kremlin, member of the Holy Synod.

In his diary, he describes in detail the events of church life preceding the convening of the Local Church Council of the Orthodox Russian Church in 1917- 1918. According to Protopresbyter N.A. Lyubimov, the members of the newly convened Holy Synod set their task only “to bring the church ship to this pier, that is, to the Cathedral.” The diary is published for the first time without abbreviations.
