“Childhood. Adolescence. Youth” is a trilogy by Leo Tolstoy, which is included in the first volume of the writer’s Collected Works. The main character is a young nobleman Nikolai Irtenev. In the story, he lived with his parents, brother Volodya and sister Lyuba on an estate in the province. Tolstoy described the events of his day, relationships with his parents and other adults – his tutor and servants. The turning point for the family was the death of the mother. The events after the loss are told in the stories “Adolescence” and “Youth”: in them, according to the plot, the hero moved to Moscow and entered the university. The trilogy is considered autobiographical: the author included in it many events from his life and the stories of his loved ones.
