Учебник написан специалистами Военно-медицинской академии им. С.М. Кирова (Санкт-Петербург), имеющими большой личный опыт оказания хирургической помощи раненым.

The second, revised and expanded edition of the textbook contains basic information on military field surgery and is fully consistent with the training programs for students in higher medical educational institutions and the training program for reserve medical service officers. The textbook was written by specialists from the Military Medical Academy named after. CM. Kirov (St. Petersburg), who have extensive personal experience in providing surgical care to the wounded.

The textbook outlines the issues of organizing medical care for the wounded in large-scale and local wars, characterizes modern combat trauma, and provides scientifically based information about traumatic disease in the wounded, tactics of programmed multi-stage surgical treatment (“damage control surgery”), long-term compression syndrome, combined lesions, infectious complications of wounds, endovideosurgery of combat trauma, anesthesiological and resuscitation care for the wounded. Particular sections describe the principles of diagnosis and treatment of wounds of various locations, combat polytraumas, and mine-explosive wounds. Particular attention is paid to the content and methodology of providing first aid to the wounded. The appendices include scales for objective assessment of the severity of injury in the system of military field surgery.
