Clifford Simak is one of the founding fathers of modern science fiction, giant writers, thanks to whom the concept of the “golden age of SF” exists in American literature. At the beginning of his literary career, Simak wrote “hard” science fiction and adventure works, as well as Westerns, but then he pushed the boundaries of the SF genre and created his own style, which critics called soft, humanistic and even pastoral, comparing Simak’s prose with Bradbury’s prose. The novel in short stories “The City” brought him worldwide fame (the title story is included in this collection). Over fifty-five years, Simak wrote about thirty novels and more than one hundred and twenty novels and short stories. He was awarded the Hugo, Nebula, Locus and other awards. Awarded the title of “Grand Master of the Nebula Award.”
