Верхневолжская Ассирия. История формирования ассирийских городских диаспор в 1920-1930-х гг. В XX столетии во многих российских городах появилась экзотическая для нашей страны этническая группа – ассирийцы, иногда называемая «айсоры». Они считают себя потомками населения древней Ассирии в Месопотамии, оказавшись в России в силу трагических обстоятельств Первой Мировой войны. С 1920-1930-х гг. ассирийцы – семьи беженцев из различных местностей Ванского вилайета Турции и Урмии северо-западного Ирана – поселились во многих областных и районных центрах Европейской части СССР. Небольшие диаспоры возникли и в ряде городов на Верхней Волге, на территории Тверской, Ярославской, Костромской и Ивановской областей, где играли заметную роль в городской жизни. Их истории и посвящена книга.

Upper Volga Assyria. The history of the formation of Assyrian urban diasporas in the 1920-1930s. In the 20th century, an exotic ethnic group for our country appeared in many Russian cities – the Assyrians, sometimes called “Isors”. They consider themselves descendants of the population of ancient Assyria in Mesopotamia, finding themselves in Russia due to the tragic circumstances of the First World War. Since the 1920-1930s. Assyrians – families of refugees from various localities of the Van vilayet of Turkey and Urmia in northwestern Iran – settled in many regional and district centers of the European part of the USSR. Small diasporas also arose in a number of cities on the Upper Volga, in the Tver, Yaroslavl, Kostroma and Ivanovo regions, where they played a noticeable role in city life. The book is dedicated to their history.
