The book of the famous elder Archimandrite Naum (Bayborodin; 1927-2017) examines the similarities and differences between the two Adams, the old and the New. The first man created by God, Adam, became the progenitor of all humanity. We are all like him, having inherited both his thirst for God and holiness, and his tendency to fall into sin. He is often called the old in contrast to the New Adam – Christ, Who, having suffered for us and resurrected, became the Head of the new humanity and saved us from the curse of sin and death.
