“Make peace with God!” – the whole life of Archimandrite Antonin (Kapustin) (1817-1894) was the embodiment of this call. Whatever Father Antonin did – he preached from the pulpit, held soul-saving conversations or wrote letters, answering spiritual and everyday questions – his main goal was to bring his interlocutors closer to God, to an understanding of the spiritual foundations of existence. Even when the active archimandrite was immersed in everyday affairs: he acquired land in Palestine and was engaged in the construction of churches, schools, hospitals, hotels for pilgrims – his life remained a selfless service to God, his neighbor and Russia. The word of Archimandrite Antonin is passionate, sometimes unexpected, full of paradoxes, but always deep and living. Father Antonin was in many ways ahead of his time, his instructions sound modern and effective today, feeding the soul, showing us the path of reconciliation with God.
