Pythagoras of Samos (570–490 BC) – ancient Greek philosopher and mathematician, creator of the religious and philosophical school of the Pythagoreans. The story of his life is full of legends that can no longer be disputed or verified. But the legacy of Pythagoras is undoubtedly of interest to his contemporaries. A great sage and initiated into all the mysteries of the Greeks and Egyptians, he did not leave written works, therefore all information about him and his teachings is based on the works of his followers and students. However, this does not diminish the significance of the sayings. They contain instructions concerning all spheres of life, as well as postulates of universal morality.
