Akathist to Saint Alexy, the man of God, was published by Blagovest Publishing House and includes a prayer to one of the most beloved saints in Rus’. He lived at the end of the fourth – first half of the fifth century, first in Rome, then in Edessa, and then again in Rome, where he died. He left all earthly goods, all earthly attachments for the sake of serving God. His whole life was a feat of unceasing prayer, fasting, humility and mercy, and more than once a voice from Heaven called him before other people “a man of God.” His memory in the church is celebrated on March 30 according to the new style. One can pray to Saint Alexy, including reading this akathist, in the hope of the saint’s help in healing mental and physical ailments, especially in healing from destructive addictions – drug addiction, alcoholism, smoking. In addition, Saint Alexy helps to weaken attachment to the material world, to elevate the soul to Heaven, and to abandon earthly pleasures that burden the soul. The saint, despite the fact that he himself wore rags and fed on mercy, during his life he always helped other poor and needy people. Even now he does not leave people who pray to him in difficult life situations without his help and support, and there are numerous miracles that happen through prayer to him.
